Job Summary

The Bar Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of front of house operations at The Quarters. This is a full-time management position with significant hands-on, front-line responsibility, working collaboratively within a small business. The position schedule includes substantial evening and weekend hours and occasional holidays. Preferred 3+ years experience in a leadership position in a bar / venue, TIPS trained, comfortable with fast paced, high stress environments, ability to remain calm and in control in high pressure situations. Responsibilities include:

Staff Management and Customer Service: Supervising and developing staff; working with the General Manager and other members of the management team to develop or modify written policies and procedures, as needed; assuring that policies and procedures are consistently followed; managing staff to deliver consistently excellent customer service and to provide patrons a consistently enjoyable experience.

Scheduling and Communications; Event Management: Scheduling staff hours to a budget; inventory and ordering of bar products; scheduling shifts for floor and kitchen staff; overseeing product development, suggesting changes and implementing new items. Overseeing management for front of house during special event programming.

Computers and Technology: Understanding and using systems, including POS & wireless internet for business and customer use. Word, Photoshop, Excel, Powerpoint. Updating menu monitors, high score board, ID scanner technology and fire alarms. Proficiency with audio visual equipment including but not limited to digital projectors and PA system. Comfortable with DJ’s, live music, karaoke, etc.

Beverage Program: Developing and maintaining all aspects of The Quarters’ beverage program, including recipe development of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, menu costing, ordering, inventory tracking and other related functions.

Marketing and Promotions: Working alongside the Kitchen Manager and General Manager to promote the business through special events, social media, and by maintaining community and guest relationships.

Equipment and Facilities: Overseeing cleaning of the premise and maintenance and repair of the building.  Reporting damage, repairs, needs and suggestions to the General Manager; managing projects related to the maintenance, repair and improvement of the buildings and interior furnishings.  Maintaining good relations with neighboring businesses and properties by ensuring respectful behavior of clientele both inside and outside the premise.  In collaboration with the Kitchen Manager, overseeing maintenance and upkeep of the Kitchen and back of house.

Emergency Planning & Management: Maintaining, training and implementing Emergency Action Plans for the premise to properly handle medical, structural and environmental emergencies. Training staff on how to handle emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

Financial: Managing expenses to an approved budget.
